Engr Md. Asraful Islam obtained degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Rajshahi Engineering College (now RUET) in 1976. He started his professional career as Assistant Engineer in Electrical Section at PWD. Then he was involved in marketing of GE (USA) products those are in use in Rural Electrification programme of Rural Electrification Board (REB).

He worked as Director, System Operation, Central Zone, and Dhaka, for Operation & Maintenance of 27 nos. of Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS). Engr Ashraful has more than 46 years of experience in Power Sector with expertise in system operation, power distribution, construction, marketing and procurement etc.

Later he joined as plant Engineer of NCC Bank for verifying LC & Quality of materials of Power Plants for verifying the LC & quality of imported materials for the plant of M/S Doreen Power at Tangail, Narshindi & Feni Plants. During his service period he got training in USA, Japan, Srilanka, Thailand & South Korea.
