Kazi Zahurul Azam, a Graduate in Civil Engineering (BSc. Engineering, Civil)  from  BUET in 1966, a Life Fellow of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, having one year-both Theoretical & Practical Training Course under British Technical Assistance Program (1976-77)-BTA on construction of Power Transmission & Distribution Networks & on the job training in Japan on primary Substation Construction has 55 (Fifty Five) years of experience till 2022 in Power Development at Home comprising of construction of Power Stations, Low, Medium, High & Extra-High Voltage Transmission Lines & Substations, Distribution Networks, Power System & Commercial Operations. He started professional career in 1967 as Assistant Engineer in the then WAPDA (Power).

Engr. Azam Served in WAPDA (Power) till 1971 & switched over to Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) in 1972 & served there till 1990 as Executive Engineer & Superintending Engineer (Project Director). During his services in  BPDB, he was awarded Chairman Gold Medal in 1987 for outstanding performance for the project assigned to him.

Engr. Azam Switched over to DESA (Dhaka Electric Supply Authority) and served there as Superintending Engineer (Project Director), Additional Chief Engineer (Planning & Development) General Manager (Commercial Operation) & Retired as Member (Engineering & Commercial) in March 2001.

During his services in BPDB, he took Training in NIPA (National Institute of Public Administration) Bangladesh & attended Seminars & Workshops sponsored by World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB) & Government of Bangladesh (GOB) at different times.

After retirement, Engr Azam worked in BETS consulting services Ltd. Dhaka as local expert inputted to International Consultant for study on activities of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) funded by USAID & also on study for 30 (Thirty) years financial lending program to BPDB by ADB. The study was funded by ADB.  He also worked with Local Consulting Firms-Engineers & Consultants (ECBL) & BCL Associates being inputted to KEPCO (KOREA ELECTRIC POWER CORPORATION) for construction of  KALIAKOIR 400 KV  Substation & GOPA- Intec, Germany for  AMIN BAZAR 400 KV substation under PGCB respectively.

Engr Azam also worked with HG Power Transmission SDN. B HD (HGPT), an International Construction Firm as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for overall management-both Technical & Administrative for  132 KV & 230 KV Transmission Line Projects being executed by the Firm under PGCB. He worked with local Power projects implementation Firm-Bangladesh Erectors (BEL) LTD as Director. Projects under implementation by BEL were 132 KV & 230 KV Transmission Lines & Substations under PGCB.  He also worked as Director; Basic Engineering LTD & was involved for Business promotion of the Firm at Home & abroad. He went to  Kingdom of  Saudi Arabia & got Basic Engineering LTD registered with a local  Construction Firm as JV Partner.

Engr Azam worked as Ex officio of DESA to DESCO as Director while working as Member (Engineering & Commercial) to participate in activities, required for good start of a newborn company In conjunction with other Company Directors.

Engr. Azam has got expertise in Contract Management & Construction (Local & Turnkey) on Power Projects -Power Stations, Transmission Lines (High & Extra High Voltage) & related Substations & also on Distribution Networks.  He has thorough knowledge on Project cycle of management- both for Construction & Consultancy Services.
